Sheltered Residence

 

In the social physical institution Tinghøj, Egtved the residents struggle conditions of life that are different that the average conditions. Some try to keep a tight rein on their physical illness, others their abuse, others both. There are established four new residences and a big common area in the new section in Tinghøj.

 

The residences are 65m2 and designed with living room, bedroom, own bathroom/toilet and a kitchen. The building considers the needs with the residents who can have an externalising or self-harming behaviour. It can amongst others be seen by two exits from all room that can be used as escape routes for the staff. There are also used silenced materials and a special state of the art full dynamic circadian lighting which amongst other things has a calming impact and influence on depressions.

The control of the lighting is through LIGHTCARE OS which is a newly developed and ground-breaking software with the ability for the users to define and individualise the lighting by concrete needs. This breaks with former closed systems.

 

The installation consists of architectural surface mounted BaseCare, luminaries with mirrors: Matric-D3 and bedlamp: Caleo-W4 all with full dynamic circadian lighting and customised light scenarios. Lightcare helped during the process to give advice to which scenarios and colour combinations scientists around the world have found suitable in psychiatry and what other psychiatrically sheltered residences and hospitals have found attractive as well as unite it all in unique wishes and needs.

The fully automatic full dynamic circadian lighting is validated by scientists and modified by the feedback from the employees. It includes scenarios for relaxing in the tv-room in a greenish tone as well as free-from-blue night light, so the residents maintain a stable circadian rhythm and sleep pattern, while the staff can do their evening and night tasks.

 

The solution was CARE-MORE and CARE-COMPLETE which includes: Tuneable white, red, green, and blue LED which among other things can make lighting scenarios varying from candle light to blue sky (1.200K-12.000K), therapy boost, calming sensory and snoezel scenarios by means of the 16,7 million colour combinations. It all comes with a user-friendly touchscreen universe with the possibility for operation and over-steering via press several places.
